Full bungalow re-model

CROE Architects were appointed to continue a bungalow refurbishment project. The client had achieved planning permission with a previous architect but was unsure of the design and unable to visualise the end result due to the drawing style.  We revealed what the scheme would look like in 3D by using our computer modelling software. This visual tool informed the client that following this design would not result in the contemporary appearance they desired. Instead, the client opted for a complete redesign with our help.

By using a combination of 3D computer software, we were able to convey the design and concept of our scheme using 3D visuals rather than the traditional 2D line drawings.

The original bungalow was a dark and dull 1960’s 3-bedroom home, in major need of TLC. Our proposal involved replacing the garage with a side extension and introducing a front extension allowing us to remodel the interior while also adding natural light and creating a spacious feel.

The side extension created a large kitchen diner with access to a kitchen terrace overlooking the countryside below. The front extension allowed us to create a large lounge with equally great views. The addition of the front extension allowed us to re-organise the front entrance with a cantilevered canopy providing a strong, visual element defining the main entrance to the home while also providing shelter from the elements on the lounge terrace. All other rooms were re-organised to provide 4 double bedrooms, two bathrooms and one dressing area. We also created a snug / office off the main living space.

After having the scheme signed off by the client’s, planning permission was achieved in early 2018. We were instructed to provide and retain all necessary building information during the building process. This project was successfully completed in the summer of 2020.

The design and layout of this home now complements its marvellous setting!
