Heritage residential extension

CROE Architects was instructed to look at the potential of refurbishing this beautiful cottage while adding extra bedroom accommodation at the first floor. After serval proposed schemes, we fix upon a scheme that respects the existing form and character of the home. The existing stairs were rotated to improve the existing layout and help create 3 good size bedrooms at first floor level. On the ground floor there is a good size kitchen dining room, with utility room, boiler room, and lounge with a new entrance.

The external appearance respected the existing cottage by using similar forms and volumes but differed with material choice. Clad in modern vertical timber slats with zinc standing seem roof, it beautifully contrasts the existing form while respecting its character. This has allowed us to introduce many bespoke features into the home, like feature windows and odd geometry that help create an additional layer of creativity and character to an already characterful home.

After successfully gaining planning permission we went on to provide the building package and offer onsite support for the trickier details.

We are so pleased with the final result and to have happy clients move back in.
