This is a large family home located on a attractive road within Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The clients had a number of projects undertaken on this house previously with a good size rear addition added only in the last 10 years. We were appointed to modernise this previous addition with the incorporation of a first-floor side addition as well. This was to incorporate for a new annex for the clients’ parents. The space was designed to allow for their own separate accommodation whereby having their own entrance to their private space as well as having the connection to the main house and family.
Large extension and renovation to existing house
On the ground floor we designed a modern extension with generous open plan living space to the rear of the property. The brief was to maintain the openness of the space for the clients to use as a main living and entertainment area while also allowing for height within this space and maintaining views to the attractive rear garden. We were pleased to obtain the planning permission for this large double storey and single storey addition to the rear which also incorporated a private gym at the front of the house and a modern addition to the rear. We have now undertaken the Building Regulations package which is going out to tender with different builders and look forward to this project starting on site 2024.
